The client is a Fortune 500 human capital management SaaS company with over 60,000 employees worldwide and annual revenues exceeding $19 billion. Their Workforce Management (WFM) suite is one of their premier enterprise products spanning time & attendance, labor scheduling, absence management, and workforce analytics. WFM implementations involve complex, multi-module configuration engagements where the front-loaded discovery phase — gathering client-specific business rules, organizational structures, and compliance requirements — is the primary bottleneck to go-live.

For the Time & Attendance module alone, 50 distinct data points must be captured across 10 configuration categories — from accrual bank definitions to band schedules to termination rules.

Junior ICs require months of ramp time before they can conduct discovery at senior quality, creating a staffing bottleneck that limits concurrent implementation capacity.

During a 2-hour AI Agent workshop, the team collaborated with Xcelerate AI to build a proof-of-concept discovery agent targeting the Time & Attendance module within WFM. The agent was designed to replace the unstructured interview process with a structured, AI-driven dialogue that systematically walks clients through the full requirements-gathering protocol.

The agent implements a 7-step execution protocol: initialize client scope, calibrate against a golden example, load the context manifest of all required data points, loop through each accrual bank's five configuration groups, loop through each accrual band schedule, generate a xlsx-ready output package, and run a QC validation checklist. At each step, the agent pauses for human input — it surfaces the right questions in the right order, but the IC retains control.

The agent was iterated over multiple office hours sessions, refined by the pilot team based on real implementation experience, and presented at executive review.
